On January 27, 1995, I was in an Auto/Pedestrian accident on 3300 South 300 East. As a result of the accident I received a Traumatic Brain Injury and Pelvic Fracture. A lot of Motorist Refuse to Slow Down for Pedestrians. I have almost been hit again by Motorists Several Times Since my Accident.
1. Pedestrians have the right to where they need to go Safely.
2. Pedestrians have the right to take public transportation in safety.
3. Pedestrians have the right to go for a Walk in Safety.
4. Pedestrians have a right to cross the street in a Crosswalk Safety,(that's why
the Crosswalk are there).
5. Motorists need to Slow Down, be aware of Pedestrians, and be Pedestrian
Friendly.
6. Red Lights should be Longer in order to be Pedestrian Friendly.
7. Crosswalks should be Totally Visible and Well-Lighted to be Pedestrians
Friendly.
8. All Major Roadways should have Sidewalks in order to be Pedestrians Friendly.
PEDESTRIANS ARE PEOPLE TOO!!!! Pedestrians can be the Disabled the Elderly, someone who cannot or chosen not drive, or maybe even your own Child. Pedestrians are part of the Community. In the last 15 year since my Accident Pedestrian Safety and our Bus System is even Worse. There more Traffic Grid Lock and road rage. The Accident that have been March 11, 2010, with the Trax Train with more Trax Line coming those kind Accidents going be have been even more and also Increase in Auto/Pedestrian Accidents. OUR TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING.
1. To HELP SOLVE the PROBLEM WE NEED A GOOD TRANSIT SYSTEM THAT HAS FREQUENT AND CONVENIENT TRANSPORTATION FOR ALL.
2. A GOOD TRANSIT SYSTEM HELPS STRENGTHEN THE COMMUNITY.
3. A GOOD TRANSIT SYSTEM HELPS ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO LEAVE THEIR VEHICLES AT HOME AND HELP OUT OUR ENVIRONMENT.
4. A GOOD TRANSIT SYSTEM HELPS INDIVIDUALS BECOME MORE PHYSICALLY FIT.
5. A GOOD TRANSIT SYSTEM HELPS REDUCE TRAFFIC GRID LOCK.
6. A GOOD TRANSIT SYSTEM HELPS REDUCE COSTS AND NEED FOR PARATRANSIT.
7. A GOOD TRANSIT SYSTEM HELPS REDUCE ROAD CONSTRUCTION.
8. A GOOD TRANSIT SYSTEM HAS FREE PUBLIC TRANSIT.
9. A GOOD TRANSIT SYSTEM WORKS ON BARRIER FREE, BENCHES AND SHELTERS.
10.A GOOD TRANSIT SYSTEM HELPS ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO TAKE PUBLIC TRANSIT TO GO SHOPPING, HELPS INCREASE SALE TAX.
I Challenge Everyone to become a Pedestrian and take Public Transportation for a Week.
Utah Transit Authority does a Very Poor Job at Connecting People and Jobs. UTA has a Very Inefficient Bus System, UTA Encourages Choice Riders to Drive to Park & Ride Lots to take Trax or Frontrunner. UTA is a Business at Taxpayers Expense not a Service.
Utah Transit Authority and the Majority of the UTA Board of Trustees are not Looking Out for $$TAXPAYERS$$, a Majority of ELECTED OFFICIALS (Representative Gregory Hughes Chairman of UTA Board of Trustees) are Serving Lobbyists (UTA) not the $$TAXPAYERS$$.
All of Utah Transit Authority Buses, Trax and FrontRunner are Accessible for the Disabled.
The Problem is that Utah Transit Authority has Hurt Hundreds, Hundreds and Hundreds Individuals by Destroying the Bus System.
Because of the Destruction of the Bus System Cities No Longer Accessible to Many Workers or Disabled and the Elderly.
The Transit Dependent are Defined as those who Depend on Public Transportation for their Mobility and Personal Viability became of Low-Income (the Afford the Purchase or Maintenance of a Car or Cars for One's Family) Age (either too Young or Old to Drive) or Disability.
It is a Real Necessary too Own a Vehicle in the Cities where Utah Transit Authority Services.
I Challenge Everyone too Leave their Vehicle at Home take Public Transportation Every Where You Need too Go.

UTA Executives only Care about Ridership on Trax and Frontrunner. The more Ridership on Trax and FrontRunner Help UTA Executives Earn there Excessive Salaries and Bonuses at TAXPAYERS EXPENSE. A Good Bus System does not Earn the Executives the Excessive Salaries and Bonuses.
